Welcome To Argo Farm's web site, serving metro Atlanta, Georgia, and the South! Minimize

We offer the "Wow!" factor: Robust container plants that give your landscape "instant gratification."

We don't keep regular retail hours, so sales and visits by appointment only. All bamboo is sold in containers. Although we don't offer shipping, we do offer you the opportunity to personally inspect and select your bamboo. Can't make it out? Want a dozen Vivax, but drive a Honda Civic? Delivery can be arranged; see our FAQ for details.

Prices start at $40 per container. Prices go up, depending on size, grade, and species.  Each plant is individually graded and priced. Most of the bamboo we sell is ranges from $40 to $60.

Poles: Yes, we sell bamboo poles. We cut them from 8 to 9 feet long; they range from two to four inches in diameter. We have almost completely sold out of poles for this year; only a few small ones remain. Your choice: $6 each.

The Year So Far: 2008

July is the time when most bamboo shifts its growth from vertical (producing shoots and leaves) to horizontal: spreading underground roots. If you're not using a slow-release fertilizer, now is the time apply a turf formulation or something general such as 10-10-10. You won't need to fertilize again until the fall.

North Georgia and the Atlanta metro area remain in extreme to exceptional drought. Lack of rain in June and July erased the gains we made earlier this year. Remember: If the leaves of your bamboo begin to curl, it needs water. Be sure to use plenty of organic mulch to help retain soil moisture.

Richard attended both days and presented a lecture on Sunday: "Landscaping with Running Bamboo." The lecture included a PowerPoint presentation -- e-mail us if you'd like a copy of the presentation.

Why a Georgia bamboo farm? Unchecked development and urban/suburban sprawl runs rampant throughout much of the state and beyond. A recent UGA study reported that the region loses a whopping 50 acres of trees each day! To improve their landscape and create natural visual and sound barriers, home owners are turning to bamboo for its hardiness, evergreen leaves, and unique beauty. At Argo Farm, we seek to provide a convenient bamboo source for home owners, landscapers, and nurseries.
